Our sunscreen is formulated with ingredients that are safe for use from birth. However, as recommended by health organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, it’s advised to use sunscreen on babies 6 months and older. Always consult with your pediatrician to ensure the best care for your little one.
Chemical sunscreens penetrate the skin and absorb UV rays, while mineral sunscreens act as a barrier between the sun and your skin. The sun’s rays hit the surface and bounce back, without penetrating the skin. As a result, most mineral sunscreens leave a white residue and a greasy feeling. At Oeight, we've developed a lightweight formula that glides on easily, without leaving any greasy feeling or white marks. Our sunscreen can be applied to both the body and face, and it’s completely suitable for the whole family!
For all sunscreens, regardless of SPF level, it's recommended to apply about 30 minutes before sun exposure and reapply every two hours at a minimum. For any SPF level, the same amount should be applied to achieve the listed protection. For babies, for example, you'll need about 3 teaspoons to cover the entire body. The recommended protection level by health organizations and the CDC is SPF 30, which blocks 97% of UV rays. Oeight’s sunscreen contains the highest approved concentration of zinc, a natural sun filter. That's why it’s labeled with the '+' symbol, as it passed the SPF 30 protection in tests.
